We are honored to have our work on the Darlington Home at Walnut Springs Farm featured in the May/June 2025 issue of Kentucky Homes & Gardens. This project is one that speaks deeply to our design philosophy—timeless, soulful, and meaningfully personal. Situated on 500 acres of rolling Kentucky farmland, the Darlington Home is a modern-day love letter to heritage and family life.
As the magazine so beautifully put it, “From the beginning, my vision for this home was rooted in the idea of an elegant farmhouse… a space that felt timeless, rich in character, and deeply connected to its surroundings.”
From the inside out, this home honors its landscape without imposing upon it. Every material, finish, and sightline was chosen to feel as though it had always belonged. Deep-toned siding, warm wood columns, and a welcoming front porch blur the line between indoors and out—while thoughtfully designed interiors invite gathering, storytelling, and everyday living.
Highlights from the home include:
A hand-shaped plaster range hood that serves as the kitchen’s quiet showstopper, paired with vented stone and natural wood cabinetry. “It’s simple, but sculptural—rich in form and texture without demanding attention.”
Layered lighting and finishes designed to respond to how a space should feel—whether ambient or energized.
Vaulted ceilings and reclaimed beams that bring architectural presence and rustic softness to the living spaces.
Custom cabinetry and vintage-inspired details that echo a respect for craftsmanship and permanence.
A primary suite that feels like a retreat: a freestanding tub beneath a picture window, draped in natural light and cloaked in calm.
But what truly made this home special was the heart behind the work. “Functionality became just as important as form,” and the collaboration between our team, the homeowners, and general contractor Charlie Ayres created a space not only beautiful—but deeply livable.
As we reflect on this project, we’re reminded of what we strive for in every home we design: interiors that honor your history, elevate your present, and serve your life beautifully. The Darlington Home is a shining example of that mission brought to life.
